Earthroots Field School
The Client
Earthroots Field School is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in Silverado Canyon, CA. They offer classes, speaking engagements, workshops and campouts for children, adults and families that promote a sense of care and connection with the natural world.
The Problem
Earthroots Field School was forced to close down all of its in-person classes in spring of 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. They took a big hit financially as they were forced to shut down their in-person classes.
The Solution
I joined Earthroots as a contractor to help restructure their curriculum by developing an online platform where students could explore nature in their own backyards, parks, and playgrounds. Collaborating with instructors and students, I created and adapted engaging content—like scavenger hunts, crafts, songs, and games—to ensure learning continuity during the pandemic lockdown.
NOTE: As in-person classes are now back in session, this online curriculum is currently being turned into a portal for continued learning and development. This platform, Earthroots Treehouse, is currently under development and should be released in 2025.
